The UC aims to highlight the relevance of Criminal Policies, as well as the knowledge of the bodies of the Portuguese criminal prevention and reaction system and respective competences. To this end, the legal framework is studied, the results of the Annual Internal Security Report are interpreted and compared with the corresponding measures of the Criminal Policy Law.
A study of the successive Criminal Policy Laws is also carried out, assessing the respective priorities in each biennium.

Objectives
Know the organs and competences of the Portuguese criminal prevention and reaction system;
Know the evolution of criminal policy in Portugal and its constitutional limits;
Acquire the necessary skills for critical analysis, through the full-scale visualization of national security and criminal prevention systems, relating criminal policy measures, the role of civil society and the media and the sense of security of the population.
Be able to identify criminal policy measures and their suitability for the specific case.
