1. The function of the law as a regulatory element of human coexistence. 2. Objective right in general. 3.Sujective right in general.4.The principles of legal equality, private autonomy and the protection of the weakest. 5. Freedom and responsibility. 6.Sources of Portuguese civil law. 7.The legal relationship: concept and structure. 8. The subjects of the legal relationship: natural and legal persons. Personality, capacity of enjoyment and capacity of exercise. Disabilities and the regime of the major accompanied. 9. The object of the legal relationship. In particular, things and animals; the patrimony and the enterprise. 10. Collision of rights and abuse of rights.

Objectives
It is intended to provide students with a wide and deep knowledge of the normative concepts, principles, institutes and persons in Portuguese Civil Law. This knowledge will enable students not only to solve specific questions that are asked during the study of this discipline but also to know how to apply civil law in the resolution of concrete cases with a private legal nature in their future academic and professional career.
