The curricular unit Judicial Organization intends to provide the students with the basic notions regarding the principles and norms that rule the creation, structure, competence and activity of Courts and the professional statutes of Judges and Lawyers. It is also intended to familiarize the students with the structure and organization of Courts.

Objectives
Objectives
At the end of this curricular unit the students should have a knowledge of the portuguese Courts' organization and structure, and of the fundamental principles that rule the Courts' activity and the statutes of the forensic actors. The perspective of the citizens' right of access to the Justice should be priviliged and this Knowledge should be articulated with the portuguese Fundamental Law.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Students with a special status provided for by law or regulation that provides for non-obligatory attendance at classes, but who wish to be covered by the continuous assessment regime, must inform the Professor of the curricular unit as soon as they become aware of this fact, but always 90 days before the end of classes, so that he or she can define another form of work or monitoring, which may involve the completion of a written assignment, presentation of reports and/or an oral exam. In accordance with the provisions of Joint Orders No. 64/2024, of December 17, and No. 76/2023, of November 23, and in the Procedure Guide – Generative Artificial Intelligence, (www.ai.ulusofona.pt), as a support element for the study or preparation of works, provided that it is within the scope of the rules of the Guião de Procedimentos – Inteligência Artificial Generativa
