The UC Gymnastics (Option I), integrates the 3rd year of the student's formative course, in the 1st cycle of Physical Education and School Sports, in the scientific area of Physical Education and Sports. It provides essential competencies to professional performance within the educational system, and specifically within the scope of the School Sports Program, in the cultural matter related to gymnastics, in the modalities: Artistic; Trampolines; Acrobatic. Its areas of activity and domains of intervention: Knowledge, interpretation and application of gymnastics activities in the school context, with intervention in the fields of scientific, pedagogical and didactic knowledge of the activities in gymnastics; appropriation of pedagogical-professional knowledge, skills, habits and abilities, necessary to conduct the teaching and learning process.

Objectives
Objectives
To know, interpret and correctly apply knowledge in the basic activities of gymnastics in the scope of School Sports. To know, interpret, conceive and apply a gymnastics class structure for school children and young people. Be able to demonstrate the basic techniques in the gymnastics modalities of the option. To know, interpret and correctly apply the teacher's forms of intervention. Master the teaching methodology in the framework of the gymnastics modalities of School Sport in reference. Know how to plan and prepare for the competition.

Teaching methodologies
The student has the possibility of contacting the school context of teaching and learning in School Sports, through an internship that allows the application of theoretical knowledge, through: conducting the various phases of the class, planning and building exercises and sessions, follow-up to events (demonstrations, competitions). The student has the opportunity to discuss various themes in the context of the UC, through the elaboration of research papers.

30% Avaliação prática (Ginástica: Artística; Trampolins; Acrobática, grupo)
30% Estágio (condução de sessão, planeamento e restantes trabalhos) 40% As metodologias de avaliação poderão ser ajustadas consoante o número de alunos inscritos na UC. Caso tal suceda, os alunos são informados no início do semestre, sendo que, normalmente por impossibilidade de realizar aulas práticas com poucos alunos, a avaliação prática passa a ser o resultado da observação de sessões no contexto escolar, incluindo uma sessão lecionada pelo aluno.
