UC that introduces students to a research culture, exposing them to a series of theoretical-practical methods that allow them to progress in the CE and apply them in other UCs. It also opens up space for small exercises to be developed in order to test the methods explored in the discipline. The UC addresses the contemporary instability of the Archive concept, and the way in which political, socioeconomic, cultural, and even environmental and climatic structures intersect with its study and research. Promotes research instruments to face the complexity and urgency of social challenges and new epistemologies. This addresses the instability of the practice of Design from the Archive as a possible response to the Real. The UC aims to be a collaborative platform, working on ways of seeing/understanding, mapping, designing renovations and ways of acting critically in highly dynamic and porous contemporary landscapes.

Syllabus
The Design Methods II program is structured into four complementary modules that guide the student from the theoretical framework to the materialization of the design project. Theories of the Archive and the "Anarchive," discussing their instability and capacity to intersect with socio-ecological, political, and decolonial urgencies; art-based research methodologies are explored through mapping and visual atlases, integrating Generative AI as a critical tool for document interrogation based on principles of transparency, verification, and authorship; and Publishing Futures, the archive is treated as an editorial device, testing visual narratives and prototypes through a process involving study visits and collaborative work. Finally, the program culminates in the realization of the final design object and its corresponding curatorial corpus, equipping the master's student with the methodological autonomy and critical argumentation skills needed for their future dissertation or project.

Teaching methodologies
Use of disruptive strategies, in a pedagogical design that follows a line of thought with the aim of creating an articulated relationship between thinking, feeling and doing. Master's students are encouraged to develop attitudes and behaviors in project or laboratory mode, aiming to work on skills and curricular content in a dynamic and interactive way. Analysis, synthesis and narrative exercises will support research and intervention development. Theoretical, analytical and conceptual framework using research methods and design and art practice, in order to study systemic relationships in critical thinking, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary processes and approaches and the search for novelty and irreverence in design. The UC involves collaborative and individual work: there will be multimodal research projects, involving historical, scientific, cultural, political and technological investigations, confronting objective and subjective analytical and representational approaches.

Assessment
A UC é eminentemente teórico-prática, e os atuais procedimentos nos estudos em pedagogia e educação aconselham a utilização de metodologias criativas no desenvolvimento da pesquisa e da investigação dos mestrandos. As metodologias de ensino da UC entrecruzam a action based research na observação e no comentário de casos de estudo, com exercícios práticos exploratórios, assim se complementando a teoria com uma parte empírica. Serão articuladas aulas expositivas com plenário no final de cada uma, com aulas em formato de exploração prática com exercícios referentes à matéria e aos exemplos e casos de estudo fornecidos no programa. A avaliação é contínua, valendo a apresentação dos exercícios para a consolidação do resultado apresentado no projeto final. A nota final da unidade curricular será ponderada de acordo com a média dos professores da UC, e de acordo com as pontuações decididas para cada exercício avaliativo.
A participação nos Workshops é de carácter obrigatório, e conta para a avaliação final da UC.
