  • Objectives

    Objectives

This course aims to study the obtention of bioactive compounds from natural sources, as well as the biosynthetic pathways and mechanisms of the different classes of natural products. It is intended to promote the acquisition of scientific knowledge and develop thinking skills and student criticism, so they can select and properly apply the different strategies and methodologies leading the study of natural origin products and their application, namely in health products and food supplements. The program also includes the security specifications and scientific parameters for the characterization of natural origin products Efficacy and application examples.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

The course comprises lectures, theoretical-practical, and laboratory classes. The contents are covered in lectures, valuing the basics of natural products. The didactic support material will be available on the online platform Moodle.

    Continuous evaluation includes: attendance and performance 10% (A); presentation and discussion of a written review work on a topic selected from the programmatic contents 50% (B); laboratory work, 40% (C) (final = A (10%) + B (50%) + C (40%)).

The worker-student student who opts for continuous assessment must comply with the requirements set out above.

Evaluation by final exam applies to students who opt for it covering the whole of the syllabus (written examination and laboratory examination).

The grade improvement is realized in the form of proof of oral assessment, encompassing all of the contents.
