    Syllabus

    The UC Seminar on Theory, Criticism and History of Architecture proposes:

    _Transversal reflection on Theory, History and Criticism in architecture, based on the presentation and discussion of approaches to research in the different disciplinary dimensions of Architecture.

    _Establish correlation between Theory, History and Criticism, through Seminars that encourage a critical discourse, positioning architectural practice in the theoretical field, among possible approaches promoted by the set of guests:

    i. Approaches to History, Theory and Criticism in the production of knowledge in Architecture

    ii. Investigation Practices

    iii. Communication and Dissemination in Architecture (Curatorship and Editorial Media)

    iv. Hermeneutics and interpretive processes.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The Curricular Unit has as its fundamental objective the development of the critical thinking of the doctoral student, aiming to provide the bases for the development of competences with a view to the production of own contents in the scope of the researches to be developed, from the stimuli of interpretative readings that are manifested in projects of research and curatorial and editorial practices.

     

    Skills:

    1. Consolidate autonomy for the organization of knowledge.

    2. Consolidate skills to apply research methods and processes in Architecture.

    3. Consolidate the ability to carry out written summaries.

    4. Consolidate oral expression aptitude.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Theoretical sessions with the participation of invited professors and researchers.

    Theoretical-practical sessions in the form of Discussion Groups on the topics addressed in theoretical classes or follow-up exercises. The sessions aim to relate disciplinary contents, and the pertinence of the topics addressed regarding the methodologies used.

    The assessment consists of practical work with the aim of structuring the thinking on the themes developed, consisting of:

    1- Merit of the Critical Review to be carried out by the doctoral student: 70%

    2- Participation in classes and relevance of the question to be asked by the guest of the seminar: 30%
