    Following the provisions of the Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuing Education, this course unit comprises a training area in Educational Sciences, involving the development of competencies in the design, planning, and conduct of research, as well as competencies for theoretically grounded discussion. The Specialisation area encompasses the critical analysis of observations in school contexts, particularly within educational activities involving pupils with selective and/or additional measures, and in the domains of learning and inclusion. The Project Component, governed by its own regulations, includes fieldwork carried out by students in mainstream schools, involving the observation of the practice of special education teachers, in-depth interviews, and the production of an individual report that will be subject to public presentation.

    Objectives

    − Understand the processes of producing scientific knowledge in Education. − Plan, develop, evaluate, and write a project of research and action in education, adhering to the standards of scientific writing. − Critically analyse the process of inclusion and the implementation of selective and/or additional measures to support learning and inclusion for a pupil with specific educational needs, in the cognitive and motor domains, in pre-schools or mainstream schools. − Propose inclusive and pedagogically innovative actions aimed at identifying differentiated teaching strategies and adapting methodologies, seeking to ensure the holistic development of all pupils, particularly those at risk of marginalisation, underachievement, and exclusion. − Integrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes developed in this and other course units.

    Teaching methodologies

    Beyond interactive lectures, this course unit involves fieldwork by the student in an educational context, to observe the performance of a special education teacher and the implementation of selective and/or additional measures to support the learning and inclusion of a student with specific educational needs in the cognitive and motor domains. Students will form research teams to, above all, base their reflections on values ¿¿such as social justice, the common good, democracy, equal opportunities, respect for diversity, and collaboration, essential to guaranteeing equitable and inclusive education, promoting the integral development of each and every student. This course unit is subject to the Project Component Regulations for specialized training, available on the course and unit's Moodle platform. Following the regulations, the assessment consists of an oral presentation weighted at 30% and a written report weighted at 70%.
