This option is available for master’s and doctoral programmes worth 90 ECTS credits or more.
Tuition fees are calculated according to the number of ECTS credits in which you enrol.

The Master in Civil Protection at Universidade Lusófona do Porto intends to train professionals with high scientific and technical knowledge, to contribute to a highly qualified "Civil Protection" sector in the various areas of activity, public or private, and at different territorial, jurisdictional or political levels. The Master in Civil Protection is a specialized training of high level in the fundamental areas of activity of the sector, namely: - Risk assessment and management; - Risk cartography; - Emergency and territory planning; - Civil protection design, certification and expertise; - Fire safety in buildings; - Prevention and combat of forest fires; - Advanced tools and technologies. This cycle of studies is anchored in a transversal, multidisciplinary and integrating vision, based on research, development and innovation, balanced between scientific knowledge and specialized practical knowledge, giving graduates an operative capacity, combined with scientific knowledge, essential to decision making. in complex contexts.

Applications to the study cycle leading to the master's degree may be submitted by: a) holders of a bachelor¿s degree or legal equivalent; b) holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following a first study cycle organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to that process; c) holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognized by the legally competent body as meeting the objectives of a bachelor¿s degree; d) individuals with an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum recognized by the statutorily competent body of ULP as attesting the capacity to undertake this study cycle. Preference will be given to degrees in Civil Protection Engineering or related fields, which provide a foundational knowledge compatible with the defined learning objectives and support a regular academic progression of the student.

In addition to the soft skills set out in paragraph 1, of article 15, of DL 115/2013, and full awareness of their own responsibilities as a specialized professional, the graduate is equipped with advanced skills and autonomy: 1. To cover all components of risk analysis and management in civil protection, as well as to investigate, justify and communicate vulnerability mitigation measures. 2. To understand, justify and know how to prepare civil protection emergency plans, linking them to other territory planning instruments. 3. To execute different civil protection projects, including fire safety projects. Furthermore, the graduate must dominate the technologies essential for the effective exercise of its competencies, evidence understanding about the main lines of research and development in its learning and training area and have the skills to carry out scientific and applied research independently in the respective fields.
