As part of the Microbiology classes in the Environmental Engineering Bachelor programme, an action was carried out to monitor the quality of the water at the various supply points on the Lusófona University campus. The initiative, which took place in collaboration with lecturers Elisabete Maurício, Catarina Rodrigues and Patrícia Branco, also involved the active participation of students from the Eco-Council of the Faculty of Engineering (FE).
During the process, water samples were taken from different locations, including drinking fountains, laboratory taps and canteen jugs. These samples were subjected to rigorous microbiological tests to assess their quality and ensure the safety of users.
The results of the analyses revealed that the water available at all the points checked complies with the standards required for human consumption, guaranteeing its safety and quality. This action not only contributed to the regular checking of water quality on campus, but also provided students with a practical opportunity to apply the knowledge they had learnt in the classroom about water treatment methodologies and water quality.
