Creativity in Bloom: Spring Window Displays Bring Alvalade to Life
Final-year Communication Design students from Lusófona University – CUL created artistic shop windows in two local stores in the Alvalade district
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Between 26 March and 11 April 2025, the Alvalade district hosted an original artistic intervention developed by final-year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design at Lusófona University – Lisbon University Centre (ULusófona - CUL). As part of the Drawing and Animation course, the students took part in the Spring Window Display Competition, which challenged each team's creativity and visual communication skills.
The shops “Amarelo às Riscas” and “Beebio”, located on Rua José D’Esaguy, opened their doors to academic talent, becoming living showcases of the students’ artistic expression. The window displays, created exclusively for this competition, explored spring-related themes by combining colour, movement, and visual storytelling that engaged the local community and enhanced neighbourhood commerce.
The competition aimed to put into practice the knowledge acquired throughout the degree, promote teamwork, and bring students closer to real-world market dynamics. The winning projects stood out for their originality, technical execution, and visual impact, with awards going to Rúben Sousa, Guilherme Lopes, Saskia Soto, Krys Oliveira, Rafaela Espinosa, Francisca Galhardo, Sandra Gomes, Laura Neves, Francisco Silva, and Diana Demshuk.
