The Erasmus Mundus Master's in Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Societies has started its second semester at Lusófona University - CUP, with an innovative approach that combines artificial intelligence, sustainability, and active citizenship. The programme brings together three internationally renowned institutions: Lusófona University (Portugal), Tampere University (Finland), and Tallinn University (Estonia). During the interview, Professor José Vasconcelos highlighted the importance of the programme, which aims to train professionals capable of creating sustainable solutions using AI and data, always with a focus on global challenges.

The professor also explained that the master's follows a unique format, with students beginning at Tallinn University and then progressing to Lusófona University, where they deepen their knowledge in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and their applications in sustainable digital societies. In the third semester, the programme continues at Tampere University, where students face new challenges and develop innovative projects.

Beyond the technical component, the programme emphasises the importance of ethics and participatory design, empowering students to engage citizens in decision-making processes that impact their communities and to exercise active citizenship. The goal of the master's is to provide a global education, focusing on the creation of technological solutions that contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future.
