The European Joint Master’s RE:Anima, which includes Lusófona University, has been awarded the Best Animation School prize at Animafest Zagreb 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious animation festivals. The award will be presented during the event, taking place from 8 to 13 June in Croatia.

Unlike individual awards, this distinction recognises the overall consistency and quality of the academic programme. The jury evaluated the body of films produced by students, considering criteria such as artistic vision, technical mastery and the development of talent throughout the programme.

RE:Anima is a two-year master’s programme developed in partnership between Lusófona University (Lisbon), LUCA School of Arts (Genk) and Aalto University (Espoo), with IADT (Dublin) joining from the 2026–2027 academic year. The programme combines artistic practice, storytelling and research, promoting an interdisciplinary approach within intercultural contexts.

This distinction follows the selection of works by students and alumni at major international festivals such as ANIMA (Brussels), Caminhos do Cinema Português and Venice Immersive 2025, reflecting the high quality of work developed within the programme.

The award at Animafest Zagreb marks an important milestone in the consolidation of RE:Anima, reinforcing its international recognition and its contribution to training new creators in the field of contemporary animation.
