As a result of work developed at the Porto University Centre, Lusófona University was admitted as a full member of the European CONRIS network on January 13, 2025. It is the first Portuguese university to acquire this status.

CONRIS (Cooperation Network for Risk, Safety & Security Studies) is a network of European universities with accredited graduate programmes in risk management, security, and civil protection. Its action aims to increase security and protection in Europe through inter-institutional cooperation in education and research, initially at the level of student and faculty mobility, but also through closer scientific exchange between its members and respective teams, including participation in consortia and joint research projects.

Therefore, Lusófona University sees this admission as a new and important opportunity to strengthen the internationalisation of its activities and teams, especially in the field of Civil Protection. Through its Porto University Centre, it enhances its network of partners while also encouraging its students and faculty to engage with foreign peers, whether by participating in initiatives from other CONRIS members or promoting their own in the same space.

Lusófona University will be represented in CONRIS by Professors Artur Costa and André Rodrigues, lecturers and directors of the Civil Protection study cycles at the Lusófona University – Porto University Centre, who will be available as contact persons for the entire Lusófona community.
