The lecturer Susana Rogeiro Nina, from Lusófona University, has had a paper selected for presentation at the 2026 General Conference of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), one of the leading European conferences in the field of Political Science, to be held in Poland in September.
The paper, co-authored with Ana Maria Belchior and Tiago Brás, entitled “When Blame Is Clear and Coverage Is Harsh: How Negative Economic News Turns Clarity into Electoral Punishment”, analyses how the interaction between clarity in attributing political responsibility and the negative tone of economic media coverage influences electoral punishment of incumbent governments.
This work contributes to deepening the debate on the role of the media in democratic accountability, bringing together contributions from the literature on electoral behaviour, economics and political communication. Participation in this conference reinforces Lusófona University’s international projection and its involvement in leading European scientific networks in the field of Political Science.
