Lusófona University Strengthens Erasmus Mundus Leadership

Lusófona University has achieved another outstanding result in the Erasmus+ 2026 programme, with six European projects approved from the 12 applications submitted.

The successful proposals include three Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM)—two renewals of programmes already funded by the European Commission and one new joint master's degree—as well as three Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM), aimed at developing future international joint programmes.

This achievement confirms the University's ability to design, coordinate and deliver academic programmes of excellence at European level, further strengthening its position as one of the institutions with the greatest experience in coordinating Erasmus Mundus Master's programmes.

RE:ANIMA joins the FilmEU joint academic offer with a new funding cycle

RE:ANIMA – European Master in Animation has secured a new funding cycle, ensuring the continuation of a programme that forms part of the joint academic offer of the FilmEU European University.

Coordinated by Lusófona University, in partnership with LUCA School of Arts (Belgium) and IADT – Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (Ireland), the programme will continue to train professionals in animation, artistic research and European storytelling through a model based on international mobility and collaboration between partner institutions.

In the European Commission's evaluation, the programme was recognised for the success of its first edition, the high employability of its graduates, its updated curriculum and its strong artistic and international dimension, receiving 88 out of 100 points.

CYBER secures renewed funding

CYBER – Cyberspace, Behaviour and e-Therapy has also been approved for a new edition, consolidating its position as a pioneering programme at the intersection of psychology, digital health, artificial intelligence and engineering.

The renewed proposal further strengthens the training of specialists capable of developing innovative digital solutions for mental health, addressing the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, digital therapeutics and the technological transformation of healthcare systems.

The evaluators highlighted the programme's highly integrated curriculum, the quality of its interdisciplinary teaching model, the clarity of its financial management and the strength of its international partnership, awarding the project 88 out of 100 points.

EMSEX launches as a new Erasmus Mundus programme

EMSEX – European Master's in Sexology has been approved for the first time as an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master.

Coordinated by Lusófona University, in partnership with Malmö University (Sweden) and the University of Almería (Spain), it will become the first Erasmus Mundus programme dedicated exclusively to Sexology.

With 92 out of 100 points—one of the highest scores awarded in this call—the programme was recognised for the excellence of its consortium, the quality of its scientific foundations, its clear European added value and its potential to establish Sexology as a leading field of education and research at international level.

Three new Erasmus Mundus Design Measures

The University also secured approval for three Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM), aimed at preparing future Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programmes:

• PROCIV – Development of a European Master's programme in Digital Technologies for Civil Protection, focusing on artificial intelligence, data science, risk management and emerging technologies.
• ENACTIVE – Development of a European Master's programme in Engineering for Climate Adaptation of the Built Environment, training specialists to enhance the resilience of buildings and infrastructure.
• CEsUF – Development of a European Master's programme in Fire Safety Engineering for Buildings, dedicated to fire prevention, risk assessment and fire safety management in the built environment.

With six approved projects, Lusófona University further strengthens its internationalisation strategy and consolidates its position among Europe's leading institutions in the development and coordination of Erasmus Mundus programmes.
