The undergraduate program in Civil Engineering was created in 1992 and was the first of its kind in non-state universities in Portugal. The course is currently structured according to the Bologna Declaration and has a normal duration of three years (six semesters, 180 ECTS). The study plan has fundamental subjects in Civil Engineering to prepare students to work in the various areas of activity. Namely, in the design, project management, and maintenance works, in line with good protection practices of the environment. Students are faced with a demanding education system that prioritizes the development of skills, to acquire the ability to learn independently and to act within the European Union or in other countries worldwide, such as Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). Our laboratory of Civil Engineering, as well as technical visits to new works and those undergoing rehabilitation, allow students to complete the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom. Graduates may apply to the Order of Engineers and Order of Technical Engineers after completing a professional internship and according to the rules established by it.
