Lusófona University: where popular culture and tradition make themselves heard
Service users of the CSSCP brought the singing of the Janeiras to Lusófona University, strengthening ties with the academic community
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The Janeiras resonated through the entrance hall of Lusófona University - Porto University Centre on 15 January 2026, through the voices of the service users of the Centro Social da Sé Catedral do Porto (CSSCP), offering a moment of joy and tradition that brought generations together.
The welcoming of the year that has just begun through popular songs is one of the initiatives that the institution takes to neighbouring and partner organisations, as is the case of Lusófona University, thereby promoting social interaction and closer ties with the community.
The Centro Social da Sé Catedral do Porto is a Private Social Solidarity Institution, with the legal status of a Foundation, whose headquarters are located at Largo 1.º de Dezembro, in the heart of Porto’s historic centre. Its mission focuses on intervention with the population of the parish of Sé, contributing to the development of the service users of the various social responses it provides, as well as of the population in general.
Through this initiative, the CSSCP kept alive a popular tradition deeply rooted in Portuguese culture, using music as a means of closeness, sharing and enhancement of community identity.
