Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Lusófona University celebrated a remarkable achievement at the 2024 VIVER SAUDÁVEL Awards, held at the prestigious Salão Preto e Prata of Casino Estoril. The MET_BCCV: METabolism, Body Composition and CardioVascular health project, developed by CBIOS – Research Center for Biosciences & Health Technologies at Lusófona University, was recognised as Project of the Year in the Research category.
Coordinated by a multidisciplinary team of nutritionists and researchers from the university, the project stood out for its analysis of the impact of plant-based dietary patterns – such as Vegetarianism and the Mediterranean Diet – on body composition, skin health, and cardiometabolic markers. The results, already published in scientific studies, reinforce that diet quality plays a crucial role in cardiovascular health.
In her acceptance speech, Cíntia Ferreira Pêgo, director of the Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Sciences at Lusófona University, stated that this award “celebrates good nutrition in Portugal” and expressed her desire to inspire the university’s students to pursue scientific research.
