EP93 - Artificial Intelligence in Academic Life with Mário Alcântara
In this episode, guest Mário Alcântara sought to explain, in a simple and accessible way, what Artificial Intelligence actually is and how it is present in the lives of university students and lecturers, often without them even realising it. Throughout the conversation, it was highlighted how several applications used on a daily basis can suggest content and guide choices based on each user’s preferences and needs.
The importance of AI was also emphasised as a tool capable of supporting the organisation of ideas, contributing to learning and opening up new study possibilities. The effectiveness of this technology, as mentioned, depends directly on how it is used. The use of detailed prompts and maintaining a critical attitude towards generated responses were identified as relevant factors for making more productive use of these tools.
During the episode, attention was also drawn to the main risks associated with the inappropriate use of these tools, namely accepting responses without questioning them and becoming excessively dependent on technological systems, aspects that may compromise the development of independent thinking.
