    The Infographics and Digital Layout course introduces the fundamentals of information organisation and visual presentation, exploring the relationship between text, image and structure in the construction of clear and effective messages. In an increasingly visual media context, the course develops skills in the conscious use of resources such as typography, colour, hierarchy, focus and visual synthesis, articulated with principles of Information Architecture, namely organisation, hierarchisation and labelling of content. Through theoretical framework, case analysis and practical exercises, students are trained to critically analyse and produce informative visual content in a digital context, prioritising clarity, coherence and communicational intelligibility.

    Objectives

    At the end of the course, students should be able to: Use elements of visual communication (typography, colour, composition, iconography and visual narrative) as systems of meaning in the service of effective communication. Understand infographics as a communication practice, recognising its role in organising, structuring and mediating information, especially in the representation of complex content. Apply principles of Information Architecture - organisation, hierarchisation and labelling of content - to infographics and digital pagination, aiming for clarity and intelligibility of information. Analyse and develop infographic products and digital layouts, articulating technological and theoretical knowledge of communication, evaluating their informative and communicative effectiveness.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    An active methodology based on Project-Based Learning (PBL) will be used, in which students, based on the presentation of theoretical and practical cases, investigate, explore and produce visual content in infographics and digital layout. The unit is based on experimental learning, proposing individual or group practical exercises that allow students to apply the concepts taught and develop independent research on the chosen topics. In this way, each student will have the opportunity to practise producing visual content and develop skills with guidance from teachers, promoting critical reflection, autonomy and practical application of the principles of visual communication and Information Architecture.

    Assessment

    A avaliação contínua é composta por projetos individuais e em grupo, distribuidos da seguinte forma:

    10% - Exercício de diagnóstico (individual)

    20% -Organização da Informação e Arquitetura da Informação (grupo) 

    30% - Análise Crítica de Infografia (individual)

    40% - Projeto Final: Infografia e Paginação Digital (grupo)

    A avaliação por exame (Recurso e Época Especial) integra os seguintes componentes:
    Exame teórico (no dia do exame): 40%;
    Trabalho prático (entregue e apresentado no dia do exame): 60%.

    Enunciados detalhando objetivos, datas de entrega e critérios de avaliação estarão disponíveis na Plataforma Moodle. 

     

    Devido à natureza prática e laboratorial das aulas, a frequência da unidade curricular é obrigatória. O número máximo de faltas corresponde a 30% do total de aulas.
