Objectives
Objectives
Throughout the last century, state intervention in modern capitalist economies has increasingly approached the model of the Regulatory State, which advocates for private initiative while recognizing the need for intervention and regulation of markets. In this course, students are expected to understand this reality, recognize situations in which the state intervenes as a regulator, and become familiar with the instruments available for such intervention. Specifically, students are expected to develop the following competencies: - Understanding the types of state intervention in the economy - Identifying market failures and regulatory instruments - Understanding the legal framework for intervention by regulatory entities and their statutes - Understanding the relationship between the regulatory entity and the regulated entity and the financial reporting parameters - Knowledge of competition law and its framework of application
