Class Contemporary Performative Practice

The curricular unit falls within the scope of performing arts and aims to deepen the critical, exploratory and research domain in the area. It is a laboratory discipline, so the theoretical component is accompanied by a strong practical component. Students will have to investigate, develop and present performative works.

Introduction to performance and its relationship with the various artistic areas. Analysis and critique of documentation of performative work at the intersection of various eras, from the first vanguards to the present. Practical exercises in class that will be analyzed and discussed. Construction of two individual performative works to be presented in class - a re-enactment and an authorial performance.

Active methodologies through the creative discussion of performative documents (photography, movement image), projects and practical exercises. Expository and interrogative methodologies through the viewing and analysis of performance videos.
