Class Data Analysis

  • Presentation

    Presentation

The CU is included in the 1st Cycle study plan in Physical Education and Sport in the area of Exact and Biological Sciences. The program contents of this CU allow the student to become familiar with the methodologies for organizing, processing and analyzing data necessary for understanding and critically analyzing scientific and academic documents. The knowledge that students are expected to acquire during the CU is essential for students to (1) produce new knowledge through data analysis, (2) be able to understand data analysis methodologies, (3) have a critical perspective of the data and its analysis, used in the generation of existing scientific knowledge, and (4) can analyze data generated during their professional or research practice.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

The objectives of this unit are: 1. To prepare the student for the application of statistical techniques, descriptive and inferential, to analyze data on the context of the cycle of studies, 2. To acquire knowledge of basic and fundamental concepts on data analysis. 3. To prepare the student for doing academic scientific essays in the area of his/her cycle of studies (Exercise and Well-Being, Sports Coaching or Physical Education and School Sports), based on the development of a logic and organized reasoning that allow the definition of valid hypothesis and an adequate presentation of statistical results.   At the end of this unit, the students should: 1. Develop skills in the application of statistics, descriptive and inferential techniques in data analysis; 2. Apply the knowledge learned in formulating hypotheses of the valid study and presenting statistical results adequately.
