Class Digital Assessment and Learning Analysis

  • Presentation

    Presentation

Digital Assessment and Learning Analytics is an optional course unit of the scientific area SD, semiannual (1st semester), with 6 ECTS and 168 hours of total workload, of which 30 hours are face-to-face contact hours (TP). Its scope centres on the theoretical and practical principles of analysis and assessment in digital education. The field of action is digital learning assessment; the area of practice is educational data analysis (datafication) and formative and summative assessment in computing education contexts. The domains of intervention include digital assessment models and frameworks, digital assessment tools, ethical and secure data collection and analysis practices, and assessment design in hybrid and online settings. Its relevance stems from preparing teachers able to select information and apply digital tools to assess and support pedagogical decisions in face-to-face and online learning communities.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

LO1. Define and critically understand the theoretical and practical principles of analysis and assessment in digital education. LO2. Identify quality criteria and apply digital tools and procedures to formatively and summatively assess resources, processes, and activities in face-to-face and online learning communities. LO3. Select learning information and databases (datafication) to support pedagogical decision-making in the context of computing education.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

TM1. Problem-Based Learning with the integration of digital technologies to support critical thinking and autonomous problem-solving in educational contexts. TM2. Hands-on activities using digital assessment tools (e.g., Moodle and other resources provided by Universidade Lusófona), focusing on developing digital competencies and designing assessment learning experiences. TM3. Collaborative critical discussion and reflection, both individual and group-based, facilitated by digital platforms and aimed at the safe and inclusive co-construction of knowledge. TM4. Simulations using digital tools applied to computing education scenarios to develop assessment skills and pedagogical decision-making.
