Presentation
The Master's Dissertation curricular unit constitutes the research component of the study programme and involves the completion of an original piece of research, conducted autonomously under academic supervision, within the field of Education Sciences and the area of specialisation of the Master's programme. The curricular unit enables students to conduct research addressing a theoretically grounded and methodologically sound research problem through critical engagement with scientific knowledge and the rigorous application of research procedures. As an integrative stage of the study programme, it promotes the consolidation of competences in research, critical analysis, and the production and communication of scientific knowledge, culminating in the completion and public defence of the dissertation.

LO1. Substantiate a coherent research study by critically engaging with relevant literature, theoretical frameworks and appropriate methodological choices. TM: independent research, literature review and tutorial supervision. LO2. Conduct an original research study autonomously, applying rigorous and ethically grounded methodological procedures. TM: research development and tutorial supervision. LO3. Critically interpret the findings, relating them to the theoretical framework and discussing their contributions to knowledge. Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
The curricular unit adopts a tutorial approach centred on individualised academic supervision and students' progressive autonomy, using their own research projects as contexts for learning. Academic supervision is combined with small-group discussions, in which students present the progress of their work, share questions and difficulties, and critically examine theoretical, methodological and analytical choices. Peer discussion and formative feedback enable issues specific to each research project to be used as opportunities for collective learning, fostering reflection on challenges common to the development of a dissertation. Regular monitoring of progress promotes processes of self-regulation, informed decision-making and adjustment of the research pathway, strengthening autonomy, reflexivity, scientific rigour and students' engagement in research practices.
