This course discusses the concept of journalistic genre, comparing theoretical proposals with the configurations introduced by newsroom practices. The main journalistic genres of information and opinion are typified and a third classification - hybrids - is introduced. Cases from the Portuguese paper and digital press (daily newspapers, weeklies and newsmagazines) are also studied.

Journalistic Genres is a theoretical-practical discipline that explores the specificity of the journalistic text according to a tripartite approach: analysis, theorization and construction. The objectives are: to critically identify the journalistic genres in the national daily and weekly press, differentiating construction angles through the editorial and market positioning of the titles; theorize the main informative and opinionated journalistic genres; practice the autonomous construction of journalistic genres

Avaliação: projeto final de Géneros Jornalísticos, desenvolvido ao longo do semestre em parceria com as disciplinas de Computação de Imagem Digital e Fotojornalismo - os estudantes, organizados em redações, criam de raiz uma newsmagazine, desde a sua conceção ao fecho do primeiro número.
A nota de Géneros Jornalísticos é apurada da seguinte forma:
Entrevista - 30%;
Reportagem - 40%;
Artigo de Opinião ou Crónica - 20%;
Conteúdos Coletivos - 10%.
Plágios parciais ou integrais em qualquer trabalho têm como consequência nota igual a zero na totalidade da disciplina.
Dada a natureza autoral dos trabalhos a desenvolver no âmbito da disciplina, não é permitido o recurso a Inteligência Artificial (IA). Contudo, se numa determinada etapa da pesquisa for considerada uma mais valia o recurso a IA, essa utilização tem de ser explicitada no final do exercício em causa indicando o percurso realizado, assim como as aplicações e os prompts usados. Caso existam indícios de utilização indevida de IA será calendarizada uma prova oral de avaliação, sendo obrigatória a presença do estudante, sob pena de anulação da avaliação obtida ao longo do semestre.
