    The Curricular Unit basically aims to provide content and instruments to support the development of academic research processes whose main objective is to encourage reflection on research themes and methodologies that constitute a basis for the future Dissertation Project (Work Plan) of Dissertation Masters to develop in the 1st semester of the 5th year. It has three teaching modules: 1. Theoretical / expository classes with sessions for the presentation of contents that address theorists, philosophy of science, historiographic and disciplinary subjects. 2. Follow-up sessions to develop methodologies and research processes developed by students. 3. Sessions of presentations of the works done by the students.

    Objectives

    The strategic objective is to stimulate students' by encouraging them scientific spirit to reflect on a research topic in one of the course's five scientific disciplinary areas, as well as promoting experimentation with methods that materialize in the preparation of a RESEARCH PROJECT with a relevant theme, to be deepened in the Master's Dissertation Project , 5th year. 1. Develop skills in interpreting texts and articles. 2. Develop the student's ability to initiate a dissertation argument based on the state of the art and a problem 3. Develop autonomy for the organization of knowledge and research methods in Architecture. 4. Develop skills in systematizing data, information and documentation. 5. Consolidation of skills related to writing written summaries. 6. Consolidation of oral expression skills and defense of research work

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    1. Theoretical classes: 1.1 Expository sessions of the programmed contents. 1.2 Joint debate sessions. 2. Theoretical / practical classes: 2.1 Methodological phasing based on worksheets; 2.2 Support for analysis and interpretation of texts and the development of practical work; 2.3 Support for the collection and systematization of data and information; 2.4 Support for documentary research (drawings, projects, images, etc). ¿ 3. Complementary activities: 3.1 Encouraging participation in open classes and seminars at Universidade Lusófona. Rating Criteria: A ? Merit of case study work = 25% B ? Merit of analysis and interpretation of texts = 25% C1 ? Merit of the Research Project: includes oral presentation and answers to worksheets + (A4 dossier with text and images, max. 10 pages) = 40%. C1 - Merit of the Final Presentation of the Research Project = 10%. Oral presentation accompanied by a 10-minute audiovisual session (PowerPoint), with critical assessment by two UC professors.
