Class Animated Documentary

  • Presentation

    Presentation

This course module focuses on the planning, production and realisation of a documentary film, encouraging students to explore the role of the moving image as a means of investigating the world around us. The aim is to question dominant entertainment strategies, contrasting them with the narrative potential that reality offers us, using the stories of places, people, what inspires us, what we consume and what shapes who we are as a starting point. The aim is therefore to explore, in a practical way, the moving image as a means of investigating reality and issues of identity - be it individual, local and/or cultural. The resulting film(s) should express an individual perspective - drawing on documentary, journalistic or educational strategies, yet always original - on the world around us, using animation as a mediating element between constructed discourse and reality. The combination of techniques and the blending of live-action footage with animated imagery is encouraged.
