    This UC seeks to address the fundamental elements of psychological intervention in a clinical context, namely in the identification, selection and implementation of strategies, tasks and therapeutic techniques framed in the characteristics of patients and in different clinical conditions. These clinical decision elements will be evaluated according to each age group, with the 1st part of the semester aimed at children and adolescents and the 2nd part of the semester aimed at adults.

    1. Essentials of clinical intervention with children/adolescents and adults
    2. Phases and structuring of psychotherapy with children/adolescents and adults
    3. Structuring of therapeutic objectives in psychotherapy: specificities with children/adolescents and adults
    4. Clinical decision-making mechanisms, responsiveness and processes of change
    5. Practical guidelines for clinical intervention with children/adolescents:

    • Internalization disorders: anxiety, depression, OCD
    • Externalizing disorders: ADHD, opposition and behavior
    • Sleep and elimination disorders

    6. Practical guidelines for clinical intervention with adults:

    • Anxiety, mood and sleep-wake cycle disorders
    • Eating disorders and addictions
    • Dissociative disorders and schizophrenia
    • Personality disorders

    7. Online psychological intervention

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The main objective of the UC is to transmit technical-scientific knowledge and develop clinical decision-making skills and implementation of responsive interventions to the characteristics of patients and clinical conditions. Specifically, it is intended that students learn to:

    LO1: Know and understand the fundamentals of psychological intervention with children/adolescents and adults

    LO2: Understand the specificities of the intervention with children/adolescents and adults

    LO3: Identify key variables for clinical decision-making (e.g. objectives, therapeutic phase, motivational phase).

    LO4: Understand the mechanisms, processes and principles of change associated with psychological intervention.

    LO5: Identify and select different strategies, tasks and techniques according to the patients' characteristics.

    LO6: Develop and implement psychological intervention plans based on clinical conditions.

    LO7: Know and apply the basic principles of online psychological intervention.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    In theoretical classes, the expository and interrogative method will be used. In practical classes, demonstrative and participatory methodologies will be used, such as: analysis of clinical cases, reflection on intervention strategies and techniques, adequacy and elaboration of intervention plans, role-play and training of specific intervention skills, among others.
    Continuous assessment will be carried out by:

    a) 2 written mini-tests on the syllabus taught in theoretical classes (test 1:
    children/adolescents; test 2: adults), quoted at 25% each.

    b) Group work with two components: 1. Presentation of a clinical case and role-play
    performed in class (25%) and written document submitted in Moodle 5 days after the presentation (25%).
