This course aims to provide students with appropriate knowledge and skills that allow them to critically interpret the scientific literature and develop evidence-based, good quality, methodologically sound research projects, following ethic principles. It aims to: a) Encourage scientific curiosity and critical reflection focused on the available research in the field of exercise and health. b) Stimulate knowledge and understanding of the most used theoretical models, reference authors, empirical studies and methodologies in the area of the individual scientific project, so that the student can identify the existing research gaps. c) Mobilize theoretical and methodological knowledge to develop research projects that are able to answer to relevant , interesting and feasible research questions, through the implementation of appropriate methods.

Objectives
Aims: 1. Know the theory of scientific knowledge, the guidelines for the production of high quality scientific research, and the principles of scientific validity. 2. Know the ethical principles in scientific research. 3. Develop an individual research project Knowledge and competences to acquire/develop: a) Encourage scientific curiosity and critical reflection over the available research in the field of exercise and health, to identify current research gaps b) Critically analyse the literature, the methodological rigor of an article and the clinical and statistical relevance of results c) Know the guidelines to develop differente types of research studies (STROBE, SPIRIT PRISMA) d) Define clear and feasible research questions according to FINER criteria and PICO(S) d) Develop a research protocol with goals/hypotheses coeherent with research gaps, and adequate methods, able to appropriately address the study goals, and ethically correct

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Simulation of peer review of scientific articles with methodological and ethical flaws, and of colleagues' work, to foster critical thinking. Use of artificial intelligence tools (e.g., Perplexity, Consensus) to optimize literature searching and act as a "critical reviewer" of one's own work, helping to detect bias. Phased development of the study protocol, based on a specific student interest. "Pitch" presentations of small steps developed in class. Progressive feedback. Note: In student assignments where AI has been used, the student must explicitly state which tasks it was used for, which prompts were used, and the bibliographic sources on which it was based. Permission or a license is required to use copyrighted data or information.
