Promotion of an autonomous reflection on Criminal Law's central problems, providing the skills needed for the proper performance of legal professions and research.

    - The meaning of criminal law and the material concept of ofense. The teleological understanding of the general theory of crime. - The distinction between illicit and guilt/fault (culpa). - The theory of error (mistake) in Criminal Law. - The paradigms of the illicit behaviour's justification.

    Objectives

    The objectives pursued are to provide students with the essential theoretical and practical foundations for the performance of professions related to law (in particular criminal law), including both teaching and research, as well as the forensic professions.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    The curricular unit's teaching will consist on theoretical-practical classes, including a first exposition on each theme (by the professor or the PhD's students), followed by a discussion and conclusive remarks on the debated positions. Evaluation will considerate the global intervention of each student during the classes and, specialy, the presentation of an individual work about a particular theme.
