Colloquium on the impact of pedagogical innovation on educational practices and teachers' professional development

Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre is pleased to announce the first Colloquium of the Thematic Cycle on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, organised by OP.Edu – Observatory of Education and Training Policies. The event, which will take place on 26 March 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, will be streamed online and will explore the theme "Pedagogical Innovation: Approaches, Practices, and Challenges".
Pedagogical innovation is an essential and transformative process in the educational landscape, aiming for significant changes in teaching practices to create more meaningful learning experiences. This colloquium will provide a space for reflection on different pedagogical approaches as well as the challenges associated with their implementation, featuring contributions from experts in the field.
Confirmed speakers include Flávia Vieira, President of the 2nd Permanent Specialised Commission on “Pedagogical Innovation in Schools” of the National Education Council, and Gérald Peyroche, Director of the Villebon - Georges Charpak Institute. The event will also feature Luís Manuel Bernardo, Coordinator of the Autonomous Section of Education and General Training at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA University Lisbon, and Daniel Bart, from the University of Toulouse - Jean Jaurès, specialists in the critical analysis of school assessment practices.
Additionally, we will have the participation of Rita Campos and Cláudia Pato de Carvalho, researchers at CES - Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra.
This colloquium offers a unique opportunity to discuss the relationship between pedagogical innovation and a transformative vision of education, focusing on teacher training and professional development. The participation of researchers from Lusófona University, such as Teresa Teixeira Lopo, and other centres of excellence, such as Ana Maria Seixas from the University of Coimbra, reinforces the importance of this discussion in the context of current educational policies.
The event is organised by OP.Edu – Observatory of Education and Training Policies, in collaboration with ESEL-IPLUSO and in partnership with the António Sérgio School Training Centre.
