From music to the battery-powered radio in the blackout, Jorge Bruno Ventura shares a life shaped by radio
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
It began as a childhood game, but radio quickly became a lifelong passion.
Jorge Bruno Ventura discovered his taste for microphones at the age of 15, when he dared to propose to a local radio station a programme dedicated to Portuguese bands without released records. It was called Portugália and marked the beginning of a career spanning more than 30 years.
In this relaxed conversation, full of improbable memories, he shares his journey from the days when he made radio programmes secretly from his parents, to football commentary, the presentation of the Seven Wonders of the World, and even the commentary of a table football championship.
Among the various topics addressed, Jorge Bruno reflects on what has changed in the world of radio and recalls how the recent national blackout revealed the silent strength of this medium. While everything else failed, the battery-powered radio once again became the link to the world.
Today, he remains passionate about radio, even at a time when podcasts and streaming dominate audio. For him, the essence remains the same: being a companion to the listener. And that is why, after so many years, he continues to make radio.
