The UC intends to interpret and draw structures of organic molecules, correlating its name (common, IUPAC) with its structure. Correlate the structure and functionality of a compound with its family, its reactivity and its physical properties. Write, interpret and apply the mechanisms associated with the transformations of the main functional groups and interpret and assign structures of low complexity organic compounds, through the joint use of various structural elucidation methods (microanalysis, FT-IR, NMR, MS) applying these techniques. natural products and their applications in the areas of Health, Food and Environment.

Objectives
Objectives
Acquire a global perspective of the study of organic chemistry applied to plants and its interaction with other sciences. Acquire basic knowledge of natural product chemistry and scientific methods for application in the laboratory or industry in specific areas such as Pharmaceutical, Environment, Food and Health. Develop observation, reasoning and logic in problem solving and drawing conclusions. . Prepare the student in the knowledge and handling of extraction material in the laboratory following risk and safety rules. Allow students to distinguish natural molecules extracted from plants, microorganisms and synthetic molecules and to relate their structures to their reactivity and biological potential. Know how to extract and synthesize in the laboratory, purify and identify using traditional and modern techniques.
