    In this curricular unit students deepen their experience of Illustration and Drawing as artistic/ conceptual experimentation as also as a field of enquiry. Through exercises, exhibitions, field trips and discussions, students will address matters such as the entanglements between nature and artifice; sustainability in production, or the revitalization of crafts.

    Nature and artifice: . The entanglements between ruderal plants and human constructions. Spatial structures in various contexts. . Learning from trees - Exploring the Botanical Garden and Scientific Illustration..   Craft as Drawing & Ilustration: . Collecting and crafting in natural materials. . Crafting and installing expanded illustration objects.   Body and space: . Entanglements between plant life and the human body. (Details and drawing qualities) . Human Figure - Body in space and performative portraits - the self and the other (human and non-human). . 2D and 3D expressive approaches.  
  • Objectives

    Objectives

    . Deepening a reflective and critical attitude towards visual communication and the world in  general; . Recognizing Illustration and Drawing as speculative practices capable of generating a broader knowledge and participation; . Expanding student´s visual culture and notion of Illstration through contact with diverse fields of knowledge and production within it (visual arts, drawing, comics, cinema, among others); . Promoting creativity and development of self-expression.

    Teaching methodologies

      Speculative approach to Drawing & Illustration, about the relationship between humans and non-humans, through their inevitable connection to the urban landscape, but also by listening to experts such as botanists or biologists, in the context of field visits. Development of publication.
