    Objectives

By the end of the curricular unit, students are expected to acquire knowledge of the principles, concepts, and historical, institutional, and legal frameworks of food and nutrition policies, as well as their social, economic, environmental, and commercial determinants. They should develop skills to critically analyse existing policies, interpret data and indicators related to food and public health, and apply methodologies for the diagnosis, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies. Students are also expected to develop competencies to design food and nutrition policy proposals adapted to different contexts and populations, work collaboratively, integrate ethical, equity, and sustainability principles, and adopt a critical and responsible approach to public health intervention.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

The curricular unit adopts student-centred teaching and learning methodologies, promoting active participation, critical thinking, and the practical application of knowledge. Project-based learning is emphasised through the progressive development of a food and nutrition policy applied to a real or simulated context. Problem-based learning and case studies are also used, fostering the critical analysis of existing policies. The theoretical-practical classes include collaborative work, guided debates, and oral presentations. Digital platforms are used to support the sharing of materials, the completion of assessment activities, and the continuous monitoring of the learning process, promoting student autonomy and responsibility.
