Presentation
Presentation
- To obtain an informed perspective on the evolution of media, namely cinema and the rise of immersive spaces in new exhibition spaces (expanded cinema and animation)
- Understand the emerging alternative models of diffusion of audiovisual formats, namely at the level of animation content- Recognize the characteristics of the main digital audiovisual platforms
- Apply the knowledge acquired in the production of a work that differentiates itself in the animation arts through its exhibition in alternative spaces. The UC introduces animation expanded beyond conventional screen-based presentations and focuses on the use of 'space and place' as a method of researching the context and concepts of animation production. Through spatial contexts, it opens up students' experience of non-liner, narrative and abstracted stories, and as such, helps reflect on ways of telling stories and sharing experiences through the lens of an Author Animation context.

Objectives
Objectives
- Exploration of our physical and conceptual relationship with the picture plane/screen frame, moving from a 2D surface to conceptual installation with animation and drawing approaches - developing material to be incorporated into the technologies.
- Learning to use methods of non linear narratives to research and question the students concepts as developed in Documentary Animation-To associate the context of this syllabus for the material production of the semester main themes explored in “Author Animation” subject
- To promote the development of theoretical-practical approaches to new media that question or autonomize outside the traditional projection space, seeking references to other artistic areas, such as fine arts, design, installation, video art, abstract cinema, video mapping or v-jaying.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Explanatory and experimental methods, guided work/ tutoring, focusing on themes developed in Author Aniamtion, with attention to New media and the arts.
Leading to group installations of animation works in a spatial context (hybrid space) using the materials developed during the semester in this and complementary courses.
Assessment - through visual media and written documentation of class exercises and individual research processes and reading the set texts, students produce two outcomes:
1. 40% Written assignments:
- introduction to article writing with texts and an artist reviews
- Final written paper on the state of the art of Hybrid Spaces: Animation/Installation & documenting installation approaches and outcomes explored throughout the semester.
2. 60% Practical work:
- Experimental drawing and animation techniques
- Exploration of presentation technologies
- End of Semester Presentation/Installation: hybrid space technologies with animation elements
