Syllabus
Syllabus
The internship serves as a complement to academic training by providing a structured and comprehensive practical component, constituting an opportunity for direct contact with different professional contexts within the field of criminal sciences. The syllabus therefore reflects the integration of institutional experience with the empirical knowledge acquired throughout the course, culminating in the incorporation of practical experience and empirical knowledge into a written assignment and its corresponding oral defence. Academic supervision is provided by a faculty member who acts as the internship supervisor, while institutional supervision is provided by a designated supervisor at the host institution. The process includes regular meetings between the academic supervisor and the student, as well as coordination with the institutional supervisor throughout the internship.

Objectives
Objectives
The Internship Course Unit aims primarily to consolidate and deepen students' academic training through a structured and supervised practical experience, fostering the development of technical and scientific skills relevant to professional practice in the field of Criminal Sciences, while also facilitating a smoother transition into the labour market. At the end of the internship, students should be able to apply and further develop the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the programme. This course unit also promotes students' adaptation to the institutional context through the adoption of responsible conduct in the activities undertaken. Furthermore, it fosters the development of planning, evaluation, and systematic and integrated reflection skills regarding the internship experience, as well as communication skills through the preparation and oral defence of the internship report.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
As a fundamentally practical course unit, it is not delivered through traditional classes. Teaching and learning take place primarily through practical and empirical experiences, namely through the internship experience and the preparation and oral defence of the final internship report, respectively.
