Given the scientific regulation of Psychology, this curricular unit intends that students develop and master a set of competences for the practice of scientific research in Psychology, namely the methodological skills necessary to the understanding and elaboration of a research project proposal in the field of Forensic Psychology. The critical analysis of empirical studies in the area, with a special focus on quantitative methodologies is also enphasized

PC1: Epistemological and ontological framework of quantitative methodology.
PC2: Phases of quantitative methodology.
2.1 Identification and elaboration of research questions and hypotheses.
2.2 Identification, classification, and operationalization of variables.
PC3: Sampling methods and data analysis.
3.1 Construction of databases and analysis software.
3.2 Measures of association.
3.3 Univariate/Multivariate analysis.
3.3.1 Tests of differences between groups.
3.3.2 ANOVA (Analysis of Variance): 1 factor, 2 or more factors, repeated measures.
3.3.2 Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA).
3.4 Simple and multiple linear regression analysis.

Objectives
LO1: Review and consolidate theoretical knowledge about the steps, procedures, and assumptions of quantitative methodology;
LO2: Carry out a critical and in-depth analysis of quantitative studies
LO3: Know and apply methodological procedures and quantitative analysis methods;
LO4: Perform quantitative data analyses using statistical software;
LO5: Report research data analyzed with statistical software;
LO6. Understand the relevance of evidence-based practice in Forensic Psychology.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Several teaching methodologies (TM), such as exposition moments (TM1), feedback by the teacher (TM2) and peer-to-peer discussion (TM3) will be used. However, and because this is a practical CU, the methodologies to be favored are the demonstrative (TM4) and the active (TM5), involving the development of a group work in the tutorial regime.
