    1. Development and improvement of artistic practice: action and reflection. a) Development of personal vocabulary for doing and talking about art; b) Artistic research as an action in the space of a continuous practice, the “inside-in” chain of artistic research, its historical origin and artistically contextualized for public actions that return and inform the developing process; c) The absence of a starting question. Experimentation and attempt: “Fail, fail better and better”. 2. Context and production: articulation, form, discussion, maintenance and renewal; dynamic construction. a) The need for action within a structure of artistic production and creation; b) Perception and perspective, creation of meaning; c) Narrativity and clarification of temporal experience; d) Exploration of the unknown and interpretation of the physical and human worlds. 3. Imagination, Intuition, Intensity. 4. Sources and processes of research and artistic practice.

    Objectives

    Introduce students to research methodologies in the field of the arts, with a special focus on Photography.   Know and apply different methods of obtaining knowledge in a research/artistic practice process and identify situations and processes, integrating them in the development of visual work.   Understand the importance of establishing a differentiation between ways of approaching knowledge, identifying more intuitive, systematic, historical and automatic methods.   Understand and differentiate the investigation processes of the public presentation of a work, understanding the importance of the first in the creation of the second.

    Avaliação:

    1. Avaliação contínua, compreendendo a presença e participação nas atividades propostas em aula (20%).

    2. Entrega e apresentação de um conjunto de exercícios de aplicação de diferentes metodologias de investigação a trabalho artístico (40%).

    3. Entrega e apresentação de projeto desenvolvido ao longo do semestre, incluindo a documentação dos processos investigativos, a definição do ponto de partida e chegada, citação das principais fontes e identificação dos principais processos (40%).
