Class Scientific Research Methodology

The syllabus of this course is comprehensive: it seeks to standardize previous knowledge in this area, so it approaches research methodologies from a quantitative and qualitative perspective (not forgetting the comparative historical method). It also addresses scientific writing and academic fraud.

Content Description Science, Scientific Knowledge, Common sense, paradiggms and methodologies: quantitative and qualitative. The research process: the importance os the strarting question. Research methods in Political Science: the experimental metthod, the statistical method, the comparative method, the etnographic method, The case study and Mixed methods. Research techniques: questionnaire, surveys, observation, document analysis, content analysis, the case study. Scientific writing and referencing standards (APA style), stategies for disseminating scientific results.

Critical reviews of scientific papes will be included, with particular emphasis on the methodology used.
