Objectives
Constituting the deepest specialization in academic training, the PhD should not neglect the specific cultural and scientific dimension, referring to the respective area of knowledge. To treat with rigor and topical relevance thematic in the field of Physical Education, Sport and Health, related to exercise and physical activity is the objective of this Curricular Unit, aiming to develop skills of study, analysis and argumentation in diverse and complementary subjects, with a common purpose: the integral development and well-being of the individual and society, with the physical exercice as a means.

Teaching methodologies
The seminar regime with different topics aims to provide a broadband view of the research topics in EFD. The evaluation aims for students, in groups that are expected to generate internal discussion, to elaborate an essay that connects the various themes.

Visando o desenvolvimento de capacidades de análise crítica na selecção e tratamento de documentação, de argumentação e comunicação científica e de redacção, a avaliação consistirá na realização e discussão de um trabalho em grupo com as características seguintes:
- Tratar conteúdos de quatro conferências (2 por especialidade);
- Expressar de modo adequado e pertinente a problematização das matérias em estudo.
- Evidenciar pesquisa documental e criteriosa selecção de fontes;
- Assumir a forma de artigo (máximo de 15 páginas, normas APA, 7ª edição).
Dois docentes participarão na avaliação de cada trabalho.
