Technical and professional skills that I will acquire
1. Strategic Mastery of European Legislation and Harmonization Skill: Accurately interpret and apply the VAT Code and relevant national legislation, effectively aligning them with the VAT Directive. Impact: Professionals move beyond a purely local perspective to master the European Union¿s tax harmonization rules, enabling them to frame complex transactions and ensure that the company operates in full compliance with the EU legal framework. 2. Leadership in Digital Transition and Compliance (ViDA Package) Capability: Anticipate, plan, and implement the profound changes resulting from the ViDA (VAT in the Digital Age) package and the specific rules governing e-commerce. Impact: Ability to design real-time electronic invoicing processes and manage new digital reporting requirements. This positions the professional as an indispensable asset for the modernization of tax and finance departments. 3. Representation and Strategy in Tax Litigation Skill: Master the procedural mechanisms for defending against the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) from the perspective of administrative and judicial litigation. Impact: Trainees acquire the technical expertise to respond to AT assessments, draft complaints, appeals, or legal challenges, thereby minimizing litigation costs and protecting the organization¿s financial and reputational interests. 4. Risk Management and International Tax Optimization Capability: Design and evaluate cross-border transactions involving goods and services, identifying the correct tax regimes and applicable exemptions (including the new regime for SMEs). Impact: Ability to conduct preventive VAT audits within companies to detect compliance issues. It also enables businesses to be structured in a way that avoids double taxation or unnecessary tax costs, generating legitimate financial savings. 5. Critical Analysis and Application of CJEU Case Law Skill: Analyze, interpret, and practically apply the rulings and key case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) regarding VAT. Impact: Since VAT is a European tax, CJEU decisions often take precedence over interpretations by national tax authorities. This expertise provides professionals with a strong technical and legal argument, which is essential both in preventive consulting and in substantiating litigation cases.

Main reasons for choosing this course on ULusófona
Main reasons for choosing this course on ULusófona
- Differentiation in a Highly Competitive Market: VAT is the tax that generates the most questions and errors among companies. Advanced specialization moves professionals away from basic tasks and positions them as high-value strategic consultants (capable of charging higher fees).
- Unique Defense Capabilities (Litigation): More than just calculating taxes, this course teaches you how to defend your company. Participants gain the right tools to challenge assessments by the tax authority and manage disputes effectively, minimizing fines and tax costs.
- Mastering Global Rules and E-commerce: With the growth of online and cross-border sales, VAT rules have become complex. This training provides practical solutions for e-commerce and international operations, opening doors to multinational and global businesses.
- Elite Argumentation Based on the Case Law of the Court of Justice of the European Union: VAT is regulated by the European Union. By mastering the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), professionals gain access to superior legal arguments that often override the interpretations of the national tax authorities themselves.
