To present the most up-to-date pathophysiological and anatomical concepts relating to surgical conditions in exotic animals, so that students are able to identify patients requiring surgery. - To present surgical techniques for exotic patients so that students can apply and practise them during laboratory practical sessions. - To present students with the most up-to-date recommendations regarding anaesthesia and pain management in exotic animals, teaching them to monitor essential and advanced parameters in the anaesthetic management of these patients. - By the end of the course module, students should be able to perform the appropriate technique for each case presented, based on state-of-the-art practices in exotic animal surgery.

The course in exotic animal surgery has been designed to provide students with specialist training in line with the latest developments in the field, equipping them with the skills they need and enhancing their prospects in the job market. The course aims to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for the sector¿s evolving demands and requirements. Students will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the most up-to-date pathophysiological and anatomical concepts related to surgical conditions in exotic animals, enabling them to identify patients requiring surgery. Specific surgical techniques for exotic patients will be presented, which can be applied and practised during practical sessions in laboratories equipped with models, simulators and other clinical skills resources. This hands-on approach is fundamental to training competent professionals who are confident in their procedures. Furthermore, the course will cover the most up-to-date recommendations on anaesthesia and pain management in exotic animals, teaching students to monitor essential and advanced parameters in the anaesthetic management of these patients. The specialised continuing professional development (CPD) offered by this course is based on the pillars of teaching excellence, grounded in scientific evidence and the acquisition of skills for resolving complex situations in real-world work contexts.
