Retroviral infections in cats continue to be common and an important disease in cats worldwide. Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) are among the leading causes of infectious disease in cats. Research into the pathogenicity of these viruses and new diagnostic tests continue to improve knowledge about these viruses, so veterinarians are advised to review the methodologies adopted in the light of current knowledge, which results from research into the disease and recommendations in the light of technical and scientific knowledge.
