FilmEU AGORA - 2027

FilmEU invites students from across the alliance to join Agora, a think tank that brings together students, academics and industry experts to discuss important issues in higher education and the creative industries.

This year, Agora focuses on a fundamental question for many new creative professionals: «What does it mean to be independent in Europe’s cultural and creative sectors today?»

The initiative will explore what independence means for young creatives starting their careers and how students can be better prepared to build sustainable and independent careers.

Key questions at the heart of the debate

Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss questions such as:

• How can you find and express your own artistic voice?
• How can you ensure a sustainable livelihood through your creative work?
• How can you work as a freelancer, build networks, negotiate contracts and find opportunities?
• What skills are needed to build and manage a creative career?
• How can you maintain your independence while collaborating with others?
• Do you believe that your voice is valuable — and that you can represent other students?
• Should all groups in society have a voice on issues that concern them?

Who can apply

FilmEU is looking for two students to participate during the academic year. The selected students will meet online regularly and meet in person two or three times for Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), with workshops and sessions led by invited experts.

The planned in-person meetings (all to be confirmed) are:

VSMU, Bratislava — 30 November to 4 December 2026
IADT, Dublin — 1 to 5 March 2027
VIA, Aarhus — 31 May to 4 June 2027

Agora welcomes everyone, and the organisers are particularly keen to hear from students whose voices are not always heard.
