The latest session of the Great Artists on Campus 4 series brought together the artist Ana Pérez-Quiroga, renowned for her distinctive approach to the relationships between art, memory, and identity. Before an audience composed of students, lecturers, and guests, the artist presented her creative journey and reflected on how everyday life and ordinary objects become artistic and symbolic material.
During the event, held at the Fernando Lopes Cinema, the film ¿De qué casa eres? — Ana Pérez-Quiroga’s first directorial work — was screened. The artist brings to cinema the sensitivity and poetic gaze that define her oeuvre, creating a documentary that pays tribute to her mother and revisits her childhood spent in exile in the Soviet Union during the Spanish Civil War.
With a career marked by experimentation and cross-disciplinary practice, Pérez-Quiroga has exhibited at institutions such as MAAT, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, and the China World Art Museum. Her works are part of several public and private collections, and her artistic practice has been recognised by the Portuguese Society of Authors and the Millennium BCP Foundation.
