Department of Museology promotes the 17th Sociomuseology Week

With the aim of marking the beginning of the academic term for the Master’s and PhD programmes in Sociomuseology, the Department of Museology at Lusófona University organised the 17th Sociomuseology Week, from 20 to 28 February.

The initiative brought together students, researchers and invited lecturers in a series of activities dedicated to research, academic exchange and reflection on museology and society.

The opening session featured contributions from Professor Mário Moutinho, PhD, Director of the Department of Museology, and Professor António Teodoro, PhD, Scientific Director of CeiED.

The first day also included the presentation of the exhibition “Capilarities”, part of the AGRRIN – Generating Bodies: From Aggression to Insurgency project, as well as the opening lecture dedicated to the theme “Sociomuseology and Commitments to Academic Training: Between Challenges and Utopias”.

Throughout the week, final PhD juries, research project presentations, research seminar sessions, open classes, study visits and debates on cultural mediation, ecomuseums and decolonial perspectives in museology took place.

The programme also included book presentations, talks by invited lecturers and moments of discussion between researchers and students.
