The 4th edition of the International Congress of the Portuguese Society of Physiology took place on 8 and 9 October at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre. Held every two years, the congress brought together researchers, lecturers and students, promoting the sharing of knowledge in physiology and scientific collaboration on an international scale.
Over the two days, the programme included workshops, thematic seminars, scientific presentations and poster presentations. Topics covered included the teaching of physiology, artificial intelligence applied to teaching and research, brain health, sex differences, metabolism and longevity.
The international dimension was also reflected in the participation, as guests of honour, of the Brazilian Society of Physiology and the Spanish Society of Physiological Sciences. The Federation of European Physiological Societies (FEPS) and the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) were also represented, strengthening the links between the Portuguese scientific community and international networks in the field.
The congress concluded with the presentation of awards for excellence in research, best postgraduate trainee and best poster, bringing to a close two days dedicated to research, training and interaction between different scientific communities.
